A Fixed Term Vacancy has arisen for a Senior Planner (Development Management) for a period of 12 months.

This Fixed Term posts provide an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chartered Planner to gain practical experience in a Senior Planner role within the B&B/Garioch Development Management team to assist and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality planning service within the Planning & Economy Service.

The role of Senior Planner (Development Management) represents an opportunity to work closely as part of a team providing a Development Management service within Aberdeenshire. The role offers opportunities for assessing and determining larger and complex planning applications and pre-applications enquiries, liaising with colleagues in other Services of the Council and external organisations in connection with the development management function and providing advice on planning matters to the public, developers, and Elected Members.

You will have a sound knowledge of planning theory and practice covering legislation and procedures relevant to Development Management and will have considerable experience in processing planning applications and pre-application enquiries, including major and complex proposals. You will be educated to Honours degree level in Town and Country Planning and have Full Chartered membership of the RTPI.

The post will involve direct day to day supervision of team members, working closely with other Senior Planners in the team, allocating work to the team and providing professional advice to the team members on operational matters. You will be responsible for providing guidance and mentoring members of the team and expected to take the lead on more complex casework.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic, and highly organised individuals with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A knowledge of digital working and familiarisation with a variety of digital/software packages is also expected. Experience of delivering presentations to a range of audiences will be essential as the post will require you to present reports to Area Committees.
