The End to End Manufacturing Engineering Team is a community of Manufacturing Engineers who have effective and sustainable relationships with our wider organisational teams and supply chain partners.

We are a key actor in the ‘Product Development Process’ and play an active role during the design development phase, through the industrial development phases and onto serial manufacture for ‘Major Aircraft Development’ and incremental development. Our scope includes working with our Global supply chain and we travel to suppliers all over the world in supporting them Industrialise the product developments.

Recent projects include:

  • Working in Korea with our Single Aisle Stringer Manufacture and Canada with our latest Airbus product the A220.

  • The latest A321 XLR aircraft where as Manufacturing Engineering we have industrialised this project in the Airbus supply chain.

  • The enhanced A330neo with improved wing performance and a new style wing tip, giving a much improved fuel economy.

What will you be doing?

As an Apprentice within Manufacturing Engineering at Airbus you will gain a EAL Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, as well as a BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering upon completion of our 40 month programme. As a Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice, you will study with our Educational Training Partner to achieve your qualifications, and your industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Filton, Bristol.

As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work with our strategic supply chain in developing new industrial ways of working to meet the challenges of these new emerging technologies and Industrialising these with our suppliers.

  • As a Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice, you will be able to gather experience by supporting the team’s technology experts and gain product and supplier knowledge focused on manufacturability and quality of the product / work package from an industrial point of view.

  • You will find out how the interface works between the industrial community and the engineering community, as well as the related supplier functions.

  • You will gain an understanding of the end to end industrial process from the preparation of potential supplier selection to in-service support.

  • You will get an understanding of the different technologies used, and the associated different industrial approaches in their deployment. This will cover the key requirements of Composite manufacture and Metallic technologies.

  • You will contribute to the overall product and business improvements though dedicated projects of which you will be responsible for end to end delivery.

About you!

In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of either:

  • 112+ combined UCAS points, including A-Level Grade C minimum in Mathematics and two other A-levels in science based subjects, or,

  • BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in an Engineering Subject at minimum grade DMM

And:

  • Minimum GCSE Grade 5/B English, and Grade 5/B Maths, or,

  • Equivalent qualifications

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following:

  • Must have an interest in Technical subjects with good academic achievement in Maths, Physics and English.

  • Keen interest in aerospace industry and product manufacture.

  • Interest in project management and ‘methods & tools’ to support successful outcomes.

  • Team player, but comfortable with working autonomously, ability to operate remotely and in new environments across team boundaries.

  • Open minded and promote change.

  • Enjoy developing processes.

  • Happy with traveling when working in a global supply chain environment.

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills and a negotiation level of English.
