Job Responsibilities:

  • The role reports to the Executive Director (ED) for Technology who reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
  • The ED leads a team of over 600 individual and is responsible for all aspects of technology and programme delivery across the Bank.
  • The Private Secrtary (PS) will sit a private office alongside a Personal Assistant, who the PS manages.
  • The PS supports the ED Technology in delivering their responsibilities and form an integral part of their leadership team.
  • They operate with a high degree of autonomy and are the first point of contact on issues that may require the ED Technology’s attention.
  • Where possible they will take care of these independently, using judgement to decide which issues to raise for further action.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to communicate clearly with colleagues and influence others on behalf of ED Technology
  • Good judgement. The role-holder will be encouraged to make autonomous decisions as to topics which require further involvement from ED Technology
  • Highly organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a varied set of responsibilities.
  • A strong understanding of how Technology operates and its strategic drivers
  • Strong diplomatic skills and emotional intelligence. The jobholder needs to maintain relationships with senior people, both internally and externally.
  • At the same time, the jobholder is expected to give advice, challenge and provide difficult messages to ED Technology and other senior staff

Qualification & Experience:

  • Have utmost discretion in order to be a trusted adviser to ED Technology
  • A strong team member who is adept at working in a small office; flexible and willing to help others to achieve results
  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to get to grips with a variety of issues, filter key information, and respond promptly
  • Ability to present yourself and represent Technology in a professional and credible manner
