Job Description:

The role holder will operate within Industrial Challenge Strategy Fund (ISCF) Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC) Team.
ISCF is a key part of the Government Industrial Strategy, the long-term plan to raise productivity in the UK. The government is committed to increase funding in research and development by £4.7 billion over 4 years to strengthen UK science and business. IDC is one of the programmes funded under Wave 3 of ISCF with £210m of public funding invested in industry led projects to decarbonize industrial clusters

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with businesses, trade associations, Catapults, government departments and agencies, private investors, regulatory bodies and research organizations.
  • This is not an exhaustive list and you might be encouraged to undertake any other duties across the wider directorate, commensurate with the Band and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the key experience and/or training.
  • Support impact and benefit analysis for the IDC programmes and projects.
  • Work with project partners and the IDC Team ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded in activities
  • Represent the IDC team at conferences, meetings, workshops and in the media as appropriate.
  • Lead on the implementation of the strategy to enable industry to develop and commercialize new products, processes, business models and services.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of the Innovate UK strategy in industrial decarbonisation, based on a good understanding of relevant industries and technologies and wider innovation infrastructure.
  • Work with the IDC Programme Manager to ensure that the IDC projects and programme meet their objectives.
  • Support international activities to ensure that UK activity is set in an international context.
  • Work with UKRI colleagues to keep IDC aligned with other initiatives.
  • Support knowledge dissemination within the programme and between external organizations.
  • Engage regularly with project leads, organization leads and cluster partners in each of the cluster regions to support positive progress in delivering IDC objectives, and identify and address emerging opportunities and/or obstacles experienced within clusters

Job Requirements:

  • Familiarity with the wider research environment.
  • Up-to-date and broad-based knowledge of innovation in industrial decarbonisation or a related field.
  • Appreciation of the industrial landscape in the UK.
  • Experience of working across technology fields.
  • Knowledge and experience of innovation in a commercial environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • All team members demonstrate compatibility with and capability against our Core Competencies
  • High degree of organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to think and act strategically.
  • IT Competent
