Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Internal Communications Officer to join our communications team. DVLA is an executive agency of the Department for Transport (DfT). Our core responsibilities are to maintain over 49 million driver records, over 40 million vehicle records and to collect Vehicle Excise Duty for Her Majesty’s Treasury (HMT) which is currently around £7 billion a year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To develop innovative and creative campaigns based on audience insight, using effective communication channels to engage audiences and maximize reach.
  • Daily allocation of work across the team. Ensuring communications plans are reviewed, updated, and acted upon as appropriate and informing the Internal Communications Manager of any potential risks.
  • Keep up to date with agency changes and work with colleagues at all levels to understand business priorities and agree communication objectives.
  • Delivering specific communications to agreed time, quality, and standard working with the wider business to achieve a successful outcome.
  • To continually review internal communication processes with the aim of identifying improvements to processes and ways of working to deliver best in class internal communications.
  • Be responsible for carrying out evaluation of communications to assess their effectiveness and impact and using this learning to inform future plans.
  • Actively seek and participate in communication learning and development to maintain professional standards.
  • To write and develop content in a way that engages and informs target audience using effective story-telling methods to maximize impact.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to develop and deliver imaginative and innovative internal communications campaigns that meet the needs of the message owner/audience
  • A confident and enthusiastic communications professional
  • To quickly and comfortably translate complex information into plain English for all to understand
  • Ability to adapt style and language of written content dependent on the channel, message, and audience
  • Experienced in working in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines without compromising the quality or standard of your writing
  • Ambitious about what communications can achieve and believe in its power to challenge perceptions, change behaviour and build strong, trusted relationships
  • Ability to write engaging content that captivates the target audience
