Job Description:

The department has more than 14 client-facing advisory teams who provide legal advice on the development, design and implementation of government policies and decisions, draft secondary legislation and work with Parliamentary Counsel on primary legislation. Our cross-cutting expert service groups for Litigation, Employment and Commercial Law provide specialist legal services to a wide range of government departments and public bodies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to ensure the attraction and selection methods GLD use are effective, fair and professional at all times and underpin our ambition to attract and retain people of talent and experience from a range of sectors and all diverse backgrounds through a widening range of schemes and campaigns.
  • Build relationships with wider government department recruitment colleagues, internal and external stakeholders to maximize talent management opportunities.
  • Use data and insights to improve the recruitment experience and to measure recruitment effectiveness.
  • Contributing to the Directorate Senior Leadership Team with an emphasis on collaboration and inclusivity and raising the profile of recruitment activities.
  • Provide an effective, professional and welcoming “application to induction” service experience to give candidates the best possible start and one which reflects Civil Service HR Global Design Best Practice standards.
  • Work collaboratively to join up recruitment, succession planning, talent management and Diversity & Inclusion to bring structure to workforce plans and systems.
  • Increase diversity representation through targeted recruitment activity to ensure there is an inclusive approach to attraction and selection.
  • Lead the development and delivery of our recruitment strategy; including how our recruitment will meet the requirements set out by the wider Civil Service modernization agenda.

Job Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of sourcing/pipelining candidates through a variety of cost-effective channels.
  • Demonstrable capacity for strategic thinking, planning and contributing on a Departmental wide scale.
  • Can demonstrate a breadth of experience gained through a variety of recruitment roles at a senior level in the Civil Service or equivalent environment.
  • A proven track record of operating successfully at senior management levels across all groups to deliver great outcomes.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience of designing and driving employer brand strategy and recruitment marketing to deliver strategic diversity and inclusivity objectives.
  • Experience of delivering service improvement taking a whole systems approach to leadership and the delivery of change.
  • Experience of operating as a successful large scale talent acquisition specialist, and leading an internal recruitment function within a medium to large organization.
