Job Description:

The Head of CTPNW is assisted by 7 Senior Responsible Officers (SROs) who are responsible for leading one of each of the seven thematic strands covering Investigations, Operational Support, Intelligence, Borders Policing, Prevent, Protect & Prepare and Business Services. In addition to protecting the communities of the North West the CTPNW also works hand in hand with the CTP South East, CTP North East, West Midlands CTU, Counter Terrorism Command and a network of Counter Terrorism Intelligence Units (CTIUs) to ensure that the United Kingdom is able to manage the threat from terrorism. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual for the role of Senior Surveillance Planner, who will provide leadership and management for surveillance planning, provide research and planning in support of surveillance deployments and to provide tactical surveillance advice. The Ops Support unit consists of surveillance, technical surveillance, Image Assessment, CT Ops Room, Source Handling Team and Special Projects team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain records of operations conducted.
  • Monitor the production of surveillance logs.
  • Prepare and submit concluding reports on operations.
  • Plan all aspects of surveillance operations.
  • Maintain records of the usage of technical resources. Undertake delegated administrative tasks.
  • Advise on suitability of subjects/premises in relation to surveillance.
  • Monitor the development of surveillance strategies.
  • Prepare and submit operational orders.
  • Deploy with operational teams and act as Loggist when required.
  • Assist in the handling and dissemination of surveillance product.
  • Analyse sequence of events at conclusion of operations for intelligence purposes and for identification of best practice.
  • Review the progress of operations.
  • To assist in the briefing and de-briefing of the surveillance team.
  • Manage surveillance planning staff
  • Advise on the selection and suitability of observation posts.
  • Advise on the use of technical resources.
  • Liaise with the customer in relation to operational developments.
