Here at Lancashire County Council within our Digital Services Team we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Solution Designer / Engineer in our Business & Enterprise Applications team. p>

Our Digital Services team serves as a single source for all ICT requirements to over 15,000 customers within the council and other beneficiaries. - Education Management and Youth Justice li>
- Commercial of the Shelf (COTS) and Cloud based applications li> ul> The role strong> p>
- Contribute and deliver against strategic initiatives of both the Digital Service and LCC through delivery of small to large scale projects, and meet challenging deadlines. li>
- Lead on a sub-set of the application portfolio, ensuring those applications deliver best value for our customers and are effectively managed throughout their life cycle li>
- Work closely with the Solution Delivery Manager and the project management community to ensure delivery of agreed solutions and upgrades of existing applications li>
- Drive efficiencies and cost-savings through continuous improvement of people, process and technology. li>
- Ensure that customer aspirations & requirements are the driving force behind everything we do li>
- Liaise closely with the architecture team ensuring that strategic initiatives are delivered, and best practice standards are embedded within the design process and across the team li>
- Promote best practice ensuring compliance and governance is adhered to throughout the team. li>
- Represent the Digital Service at all levels and attend customer meetings li> ul> About you strong> p>
- You will have significant design experience with various business applications (both enterprise class and COTS based) li>
- experience of leading, managing, mentoring and motivating a functionally & technically focused team in an enterprise environment. li>
- an appreciation of various integration / middleware technologies and approaches li>
- a good level of commercial awareness and be able to assess suitability of COTS or cloud SAAS solutions against requirements, security standards and technical specifications li>
- experience of completing options and market appraisals, and presenting recommendations based on value for money to the customer li>
- a proven track-record in end-to-end designing and implementation of small to large-scale / enterprise class solutions li>
- an ability to understand and translate business requirements and deliver value-for-money solutions li>
- experience with engaging with customers at all levels and external party organisations li>
- knowledge of best practise frameworks such as ITIL, TOGAF and/ or ISO27001 li>
- a commitment to continuous improvement and self-development li>
